The Ref Belongs on OBT

The Proprietors News 0 Comments

Enough is enough. This past Sunday was just the latest example of stupidity from the hilariously-named PROreferee cabal. Mark Gieger, he of the infamous Gold Cup Mexico-Pananama screw job, was back at it again in Orlando City Stadium making idiotic decisions left and right and generally wrecking the game.

Now before you launch about how we sucked, well, we sucked. Orlando City sucked all game playing like Zero F***s were given and generally letting NCYFCYFYCNCYFNNFYCN get away with whatever they felt like.

But that’s not really the important thing here. The important thing is that once again the chant rang out, THE REF. BELONGS. ON OH BEE TEE. So we pondered this and we decided that there should be a T-shirt about that. Why? Because we are sick and tired of going home after spending our hard earned money and time and screaming until our throats were hoarse only to watch some dumbass waving his ego around and not calling a fair game and not having any recourse or say in the matter.

F*** that.

This is our response. Laugh if you like, buy it if you want but we had to finally take a stand.

Orlando City Signs Midfielder Luis Gil on loan from Mexico

The Proprietors News, Orlando City Press Release 0 Comments

Orlando City added desperately needed offensive depth today with the additon of 23 year old midfielder Luis Gil who is currently playing in Liga MX. While Real Salt Lake has his right of first refusal, the Lions traded for that with $100,000 of TAM money to be handed over in 2018. The lack of offensive depth was on display last Saturday when Orlando City were down 2-0 at Columbus and the only sub with any offensive possibilities was Cristian Higuita. Yeah, not optimal. Gil will wear #17, Darwin Ceren’s former number, and marks just the latest addition to the team that has formerly played under Jason Kreis at some point.

“Luis offers us another attacking threat and will fit in nicely with our squad,” Orlando City SC General Manager Niki Budalic said. “He [Jason Kreis] spoke very highly of Luis from his time at Real Salt Lake and we’re excited for him to join the team.”

Gil has significant MLS experience, playing in 134 regular season games plus 11 post-season matches for Real Salt Lake, 93 of these matches were while playing for Kreis.

Per the team release:

The loan includes an option for purchase at the end of the 2017 Major League Soccer (MLS) season. If Gil doesn’t remain with the Club in 2018, Orlando City SC receives $50,000 in TAM from Real Salt Lake in exchange for the Right of First Refusal to Gil.
